Overview of the Leadership Training and Development Process
There are three stages of leadership training in the Intentional Discipleship process: (1) leading studies, (2) training leaders, and (3) multiplying groups.
Why Should I Be Trained?
The magnitude of the Great Commission (make disciples of all nations) indicates Christ’s command was a commission for the entire church rather than merely the apostles or a few “gifted” individuals within the body of Christ. The Early Church understood the Great Commission this way. Acts 8:1, 4 says, At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. (Acts 8:1, 4). The Bible says those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. It does not say that only those who were bold in the Lord or those who were gifted evangelists spread the gospel. All those who were scattered (believers) preached the Word.
How Do I Begin Training?
The Discipleship Training Institute provides two great opportunities for you to be trained as a disciple-maker 1) a series of seven online 60-minute webinars) and, 2) live seminars in your church or area (e.g., Friday evening and Saturday). All training is done by a DTI Certified Trainer.
A Certified Trainer will lead you through a series of online training sessions (webinars). The training is easy to access and can be done from the comfort of your home or office. All you need is a computer that has a sound card (most computers already have one). It usually takes about 1-2 minutes to access the training the first time. You can register online for the training and work through the sessions at your own pace.
These seminars are available for larger groups such as churches or groups of churches. All seminars are led by a DTI Certified Trainer, using an instructor-led, participant-centered approach. In addition to covering the entire Advanced (Level 2) Training, the live seminar format allows the participants the advantage of in-class role practice and more interaction with the instructor.
How Much Does The Training Cost?
The training is free, but there is a cost of $20 for the student training workbook. For more information about the student training workbook click here. For live seminars, the church or churches are asked to cover the travel costs. A speaker honorarium is appreciated, but not required.
